About us:
The North Star Alliance is a bi-monthly reading and discussion group, operating through Newark Public Library, Wayne Action for Racial Equality and other community partners. We read prose, poetry, essays, short stories and full-length nonfiction books, encouraging community conversations about social justice, race, feminism and marginalized voices.
Additionally, we screen films, share music and other artistic performances, using the humanities to encourage public audiences to reflect on their values, explore new ideas, and engage with others in our community.
